Coinciding with the theme of NAB 2012 “The Great Content Shift”, Dr. Koh analyzed the drawbacks of traditional content workflows compared to the new advances in Media Asset Management technology. He further shared the industry implications and his vision for the latest trends in content creation and delivery.

One emerging trend is driven by the accessibility and high performance of the internet, which enables organizations to easily share their content across the globe. Citing real industry cases, Dr. Koh explained that Gorilla’s “Collaboration Platform” improves production efficiency with a non-linear workflow. For example, Gorilla Story Cut web-based video editor facilitates communication of story ideas throughout the production process. X-Share Server enables multiple editors to share projects between multiple editing platforms such as Apple Final Cut Pro, Avid NLE, and Adobe Premier.

A second major trend is that content creation is no longer limited to professional production companies. Instead, enterprises big and small can now utilize consumer electronic devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras to create content, which they can then edit and re-use multiple times for their communication.

Gorilla presented its new Enterprise TV solution and service model as a new approach to what Dr. Koh defined as “Next-Generation Unified Communication”. Dr. Koh emphasized how a smart enterprise will benefit from creating more value from existing content assets and two-way communication, while shifting from a single-site infrastructure mindset to a multi-site global-scale private enterprise cloud.

Furthermore, Gorilla announced the launch of the 4th generation Gorilla Broadcast Tapeless, Gorilla “SilverBack”. The newly revamped Gorilla “SilverBack” features the previously mentioned “Collaboration Platform” and “Media Operation Control System” for status monitoring and control of a globally networked tapeless workflow.
