TAIPEI, Taiwan. Gorilla Technology Inc., an independent software provider of content management solutions, will provide the tapeless workflow solution for Mundo FOX, a new Spanish language network of the FOX Broadcasting Company.

To be launched in August this year, Mundo FOX will leverage Gorilla’s leading end-to-end tapeless broadcast solution, Gorilla SilverBack, as the backbone of its television content management system. The deal gives FOX a highly efficient media operations platform, which allows FOX to eliminate the costs of tape-based transportation, storage and conversion, while streamlining production with a tapeless workflow and collaborative production and play-out environment.
Gorilla SilverBack features a scalable design that lets FOX expand to meet future programming and business demands, while interoperability with hardware and software components from a range of 3rd-party vendors ensures the system is flexible enough to support new functionality as required.
Gorilla SilverBack offers Mundo FOX valuable breakthroughs in their operations:
- Provides a means to easily archive and utilize every piece of Mundo FOX content, allowing FOX to maximize the value of the network's assets
- Offers a unified web-based environment for content re-purposing and approval management, for both short-form promos and long-form programs, enabling editors and producers to collaborate in highly efficient ways to generate new content. At the same time saving costs by reducing the need for traditional non-linear editing suites
- Improves staff response times and efficiency, by allowing access to content to anyone across the entire network via an easy-to-use web browser interface, with access authorization and security control.
- Supports a range of third party components, enabling Gorilla to integrate and add value to Mundo FOX’s existing infrastructure as well as add future functionality.
- Prepares Mundo FOX for expansion into a larger implementation, such as an increase in the number of channels or by building a digital distribution center for multiple broadcast sites and new media.
A key requirement from FOX was the rapid roll-out of the Gorilla system in time for a US summer launch. The Mundo FOX project reflects Gorilla's consistent record on solution delivery, including the 2008 launch of the National Geographic Music Channel in Italy, and the multi-site European roll-out of Gorilla's media asset management and archiving platform for FOX International Channels in 2010 and 2011.
“Our continuing partnership with FOX is based on several key factors, including product innovation, superior design quality and fast system implementation,” said Dr Spincer Koh, CEO of Gorilla. “The launch of the Mundo FOX channel continues our record of success for delivering content management systems that add huge value to our partners’ operations.”
