Fox’s National Geographic Music Channel launches with Gorilla Broadcast Tapeless

LOS ANGELES, California, USA.

Fox International has chosen Gorilla Technology Group, the world leader in Broadcast Tapeless solutions, as a turnkey solution provider of integrated video ingest, open technology production, asset management and collaboration, archiving, and playout for its affiliate National Geographic's brand new Music Video channel launch this September.

The brand new 24-hour channel will be broadcast in Italy to many countries across the Europe. The channel will air from Sky TV studio. The big impact to industry is National Geographic taps into entertainment business, and Gorilla lead Fox International and Sky transit to Tapeless broadcast workflow.

This new channel is the first, big joint project from Fox International and National Geographic International after they married.

The project timeline is two months only. The Gorilla Tapeless solution provides ingest of video feeds, that Fox collected from many countries, as well as provides desktop collaboration in open technology environment with both Apple and Avid NLE production systems. The Gorilla MAM is also layered on the tapeless workflow and infrastructure, incorporating with Music Master, the leader of music-oriented playlist system from German, for playout video essence pre-view and pre-select on a web-based interface, before them automated pulled out from EMC CLARiiON archiving storage to video server. Besides, Gorilla provides two-algorithm embedded system to analyze program and music video content and metadata.

"In the beginning, we want to adopt Gorilla's chic solution for Post-production Automation and Program MAM only. But later, we found some of its listed modularized Tapeless solutions and efficient services, are necessaries to our burning brand new Music Video Channel launch, so we extended the project line," said Julio Sobral, Vice President Operations, Fox International Channels Italy. "As our workflows and channels evolve, we use more and more of Gorilla's potential."

Mr. Sobral is starting his worldwide promotion journey and visiting Fox affiliate Asia broadcasters in August. He will join Gorilla's International Broadcast Boardroom Conference on August 24th, BIRTV, Beijing Radisson Hotel. On August 27th, he and Dr. Spincer Koh, Group CEO, Gorilla Science & Technology, will co-host the Greater China Broadcast Media Executives Forum in Taipei, sharing ROI experience of Tapeless infrastructure and addressing the content exchange business among Europe, America and Asia, for the audio-visual market growing opportunities.
